This can't be happeningIs he flirting with me? I must be imagining things. Why would Mason Sweet, the gorgeous mayor of Millbrook, Maine, the man I've secretly been in love with since the seventh grade, flirt with me? He's the town golden boy, and I'm, well, the local librarian. The Stepp sister who stayed close to home. The one who bakes brownies...then eats them all. My thighs make that whick-whick-whick sound in pantyhose. He can't possibly be flirting with me. So why is he giving me that melt-you-where-you-stand look? Why is he pulling me close? And what is he whispering in my ear?

Sorry, could you repeat that? Now I'm hearing things, because I swear Mason just asked me if I'd like to...well, he wasn't asking for a book recommendation, let's put it that way. Oh my, my, my. Okay, Ellie, stop blushing like a teenage girl. I'm sure he didn't mean it. Maybe I should just alphabetize something. Be the good girl everyone expects. Eat another brownie. Forget this ever happened. So why is it I can't stop myself from saying, "Yes...."

The second instalment of the Sisters Stepp trilogy, "Wanting what you get" is about the youngest daughter Ellie and Mason.

Ever since High school, Ellie has been in love with Mason Sweet. She was a full figure and shy teenager and he was the most popular guy. But years later when Mason takes an interest in Ellie, she discovers that the high school cutie now mayor is not as perfect as he seems to be…

There are books which can seem a little bit simplistic, somehow naive. Here a young woman dreaming of her prince charming who finally makes a move on her and takes away her insecurities. That storie could have stopped here but Kathy Love gives us a couple whom step by step (pun intended) will give to this novel a depth we did not suspected.

Mason's alcoholism is going to be a catalyst for Ellie who will become a woman by realizing that some added kilos are nothing compared to the unwell-being and the disease of the man she loves. Mason is not the prince charming she thought him to be but she will love him to the point of risking losing him.

With this novel, the author shows us that they are wounds of childhood which will never really heal but it is up to us to confront them and why not call for help.
